Are you battling with self-confidence?

Struggling with a low sense of self-worth is a widespread issue in this day and age. This world offers so much but does not seem to cater very well to an individual’s mental health requirements. No matter who you are, everyone has battled with low self-confidence and doubts, but some people seem to be able to recover from these negative mindsets a lot easier than others. Some people have struggled with a low sense of self-worth since childhood, others since a bereavement or an illness. Here we will look at a few ways to help you boost your sense of self-worth and generally make you feel happier.

Focus on the Positive

People with a low sense of self-worth generally tend to focus on the aspect of their life that is wrong. They may dwell on bad things about themselves as well, instead of focusing on what is good and what they are competent at. To fix this, you need to become aware of your thoughts and how you are thinking. When you find yourself dwelling on the negative, stop. You can do this by physically doing something else. Maybe you are good at something like painting, or perhaps going for a walk will help. Use the activity to focus on something positive. It may be worth your while creating a list of things you are happy about and appreciate in your life. This could be someone as simple as your eye color. The more you swap the negative for positive, the more your sense of self-worth will grow.

Get Active and Eat Better

When we feel bad, this can manifest in the body and vice versa. This can be a slippery slope down to depression and being overweight and feeling like there is nothing you can do about it. Over time this problem can only get worse, but you do have to power to stop it right now. When you are at the supermarket, make healthier choices, swap those crisps for fruit, for example. Also, find some time for exercise, walking or jogging are simple to do. If you are a busy person, perhaps park a little further from the office to give yourself a little way to walk to help you burn calories. Exercise is great, as it does so much good, including flooding the body with feel-good endorphins and reducing the stress chemical cortisol, as well as helping you shift those unwanted pounds. Imagine how much better you would feel if you managed to fit into that little black dress you love.

See Someone

Maybe you have never spoken to someone about your lack of self-worth before, but perhaps this is the best thing you can do. Getting out of your comfort zone and seeking help could be just what you need to start creating a happier life for yourself. There are many licensed psychologists out there who are more than happy to help you increase your sense of self-worth. They can also offer you support and give you coping mechanisms. It all starts with a single step.
